Number of islands problem - Graphs


Given a 2d grid map of '1's (land) and '0's (water), count the number of islands. An island is surrounded by water and is formed by connecting adjacent lands horizontally or vertically. You may assume all four edges of the grid are all surrounded by water.

A Maze is given as N *N binary matrix of blocks where source block is the upper left most block i.e. , maze[0][0 ] and destination block is lower rightmost block i . e. , maze[N-1][N-1].  A rat starts from source and has to reach destination.
